Andrea Hoke - Metro Rings

Tuesday February 3, 2026

Time: 9AM-3:30PM

Learn to conquer curved seams as you stitch the Metro Rings quilt, a pattern reminiscent of the beloved Double Wedding Ring.  Your will use the Quick Curve Ruler by Sew Kind of Wonderful for this project. Starting with a roll of precut strips, you will utilize strip piecing techniques and then use your ruler to cut out the curves and trim down your oversized blocks.  This method allows you to more quickly complete what used to be considered a complex pattern.

Make it modern or vintage, it’s up to you!

March 12, 2026 Workshop:
Guicy Guice

  • “Re” is a modern minimalist design from the traditional block.

    Students will learn modular foundation paper piercing with Re quilt, a uniquely customizable pattern. Students will make a pillow top.

August 14, 2025 Workshop:


  • Explore how to choose fabrics to create beauty and drama. Perhaps you wish to create a serene landscape. Let’s explore some mixed media techniques using fusing, non-woven products, paint, stencils, inktense blocks, and a cutting machine. Quilt and facing will be demonstrated and discussed. Rachel will bring a Cricut cutting machine for use in class.

September 17, 2025 Workshop:

  • Brita Nelson, the Questioning Quilter will teach us how to use tint, tone, shade, value and scale to take your tiniest scraps and turn them into one-of-a-kind textiles. Her simple organized method for assembling your curated crumbs leads to fabric that is part planned, part free-form and totally fun!

October 9, 2025 Workshop:

  • Make a gorgeous scrap petal garden quilt using one of a few methods of machine applique. Make your masterpiece from completely scrappy to planned using one of the techniques provided. You get to choose based on personal preference.

November 13, 2025 Workshop:

  • Make your very own arpillera. I will show you how to build your composition in stages, just like the women of Chile did! Make your arpillera reflect a social justice issue you feel strongly about (as the women of Chile did), or design it around a place or event special to you. New skills will be stuffed appliqué, three-dimensional figures, and decorative stitching. I structure the workshop to build community with your guild, just as the Chilean women used this time as their sewing therapy. Throughout the workshop, I read passages from the Chilean women, describing what their sewing groups meant to them, and how making their arpilleras helped them cope with what was happening around them.

    Indicate when you sign up whether you want to make one from scratch, or from my pattern ($10) or kit ($25).
